Hi, I'm Lesley.
I am a birth and postnatal doula, and a mother of three based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. I honour and support birth, matresence and early parenthood while offering evidence-based, informed care drawn from my biomedical science (BSc) background. I couple intuitive knowledge and research in every aspect of my doula work to giving balance between science, medicine and spirituality.
My passion lies in honouring both the ancestral and the alternative, creating space for intuitive, attachment-based, and holistic approaches to pregnancy and parenting. During birth I focus on empowering my clients with informed choices, advocacy, and calm support. In the postpartum period, my priority is nurturing the new mother, supporting healing, nourishment, and rest during this precious time.
In Sheffield I have founded and host a monthly parenting group: a supportive, inclusive space where like-minded families connect, share and hold one another through all areas of parenthood. It is becoming a beautiful community which is something every parent deserves.
I have supported a wide range of birth experiences, including VBAC, freebirth, and maternal-request cesareans. However, my passion and speciality lie in supporting physiological, undisturbed birth. I believe that care should be available to anyone who feels they need it, therefore I offer flexible, personalised support tailored to your needs and financial capacity.
Examples include:
• In-person or remote support.
• Customisable packages and ad-hoc sessions.
• Sliding scale pricing and flexible payment plans.
Although I’m trained as a birth and postnatal doula, my services span the full spectrum of parenthood: From trying to conceive to navigating the ever-evolving needs of a growing family, specialising in alternative and attachment pregnancy and parenting practices e.g. alternative healing/pain-relief, cloth nappy'ing, elimination communication, breastfeeding and more.
How did I get here?
After personally navigating several challenging pregnancy and birth experiences, I became acutely aware of the lack of support available to mothers, particularly those choosing paths outside standard NHS guidance (like myself). Through my own research and self-advocacy I achieved a range of births on my own terms, including homebirth and freebirth. These experiences ultimately inspired my career shift from microbiologist to doula.

Wishing you all the best in your journey through parenthood xx
