Jady Mountjoy

Jady joined the practice in 2006, inspired by the birth of her son and the incredible support she received throughout her own journey to motherhood. She has worked in a wide range of holistic therapies over the past 10 years and nurturing others has always defined her path. Training as a Doula was a natural progression for Jady as her own life as a mother unfolded.

Jady feels there is no right or wrong way to birth and that what defines an empowered birth experience is the consciousness with which we choose to journey through it. She sees herself as a guide and witness, an advocate and nurturer in all aspects of antenatal, birth and postnatal care. Additionally, she offers individual sessions combining shiatsu, massage and conscious breathwork. The intention of the work being to assist in clearing the way physically, emotionally and spiritually so that this initiatory time can be met with openness and awareness. As a childbirth educator, she also facilitates regular prenatal classes for couples.

She trained with Kate Woods primarily and later with the Holistic Birth Trust Foundation in Wells, Somerset. She has studied with Suzanne Yates of Well Mother, specialising in shiatsu for pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period for both mother and baby. Jady also studied with Andy and Ella Portman of The Living Tao healing way, exploring conscious connected breathing, self reflective processes and meditation practises which she offers as part of her approach to birth.

In her work, she honours the uniqueness of every mother and father’s journey to parenthood. She encourages them to engage with their own inner wisdom and intuition and guides them to draw upon and trust these as they move through one of life’s most transformative rites of passage.

Testimonials:

" I can't praise Jady highly enough. As a first time mother she was indispensable to me; her skill, compassion and support are exceptional. She was the perfect combination of soul-sister, guide and birthing partner, assisting, empowering and comforting in just the right amounts at the right times. She is also very sensitive, intuitive and thoughtful, and her practical and therapeutic abilities are first rate.

Seemingly tireless, and endlessly loving and positive in her care, I feel
blessed to have had her as my doula at my sons birth. She is naturally
gifted at her job, as well as highly experienced. No woman could do better
than to have Jady's assistance at such a important and intimate time."

"We hired Jady  to assist us with the delivery of our second daughter in May 2009, and that turned out to be the best thing we could do. We wanted a person present at the birth that we already knew and felt secure around.

Jady gave us emotional and practical support and assisted us in the preparation of the birthplan, helped us through some emotional issues from the first birth that made it difficult for us to imagine a positive outcome of the second one. She also assisted each of us when we couldn't be there for each other emotionally. She gave us practical support before, during and after the birth, and it was always with a loving and caring attitude, and she always knew what we needed before we did.

We had a fantastic peaceful and happy homebirth, and I feel that the reason I could relax into it all was because of my agreement with Jady that she would take care of everything, from deciding what homeopathic medicine would work for me, to food and drinks, and talking to midwifes etc. That helped me be with my husband and baby, and that was what I needed. I am also sure that in case we would have had to go to hospital for what ever reason, that her presence would have made such an experience ok too, or at least far less traumatic than our experience was the first time around.

Thank you Jady! We are forever grateful."

"Jady gave my wife the strength to continue with our home birth, particularly when the going got tough. This was where we'd quit before but this time we both knew it was time to "dig in" and push through. And we did it! And her support in the run-up to the birth was invaluable. As a man, I saw there are areas in which - quite naturally - I simply couldn't support my wife, and it was a huge relief to know that this time around expert and loving care was on hand, and the weight was off my shoulders. As a result, I could concentrate on dealing with my own emotions, and simply bask in the joy of what turned out to be a perfect birth."

"Jady provided such amazing support to me during this time and for the whole duration of my pregnancy.  This support, wisdom, compassion, sensitivity and love never once wavered and continued on into the birth itself as well as the period afterward.
She is a gifted listener, gave sound advice, excellent massages, and assisted me with anything and everything I needed to feel safe, prepared and positive about the birth. Helping to prepare not only the physical space but also my mental and emotional one.
When the time of the birth came, she really showed her strength, patience, endurance and total capability as a doula. Her calmness and positivity even made me feel ok about having to actually deliver Lucy at the hospital, after having my heart set on a home birth and having done more than two days labouring at home.
Jady is so dedicated to her chosen profession and I really cannot imagine anyone better equipt, in both knowledge and personal qualities, to be a doula. I will never forget how amazing she was and cannot thank her enough."

"I was blessed to have a beautiful home birth with Jady as our Doula.  She is amazing!  Such sensitivity and intuition, she was so in tune knowing exactly when was the right time to get involved and when it was best to step back. I have absolutely no doubt that she is doing what she is meant to do in this world by supporting women through giving birth. She is in her element and flows with gentle profound wisdom.
During the birth I could trust Jady totally.  Her advice and timing was spot on, particularly in when to get into the birth pool, when to call the midwife and positions and suggestions that would ease the process.  It meant that my labour felt safe and as relaxed as it could be.
My birth was a totally wonderful experience and Oscar was born easily at home in the water.

Afterwards I struggled with breastfeeding initially and having the support from Jady really helped me through the challenges. At such a delicate time she was never intrusive and always in tune with what we wanted at any given moment.  We feel so much gratitude to her for helping make such a magical time as blissful as possible."
