‘In Good Hands’ Doula Service has been providing down to earth, holistic support for women and their families throughout pregnancy and birth since 1998.
Within my practice, I offer guidance through the sometimes bewildering array of choices, helping you to make informed decisions at your own pace.
I have much experience in the birthing room and have supported women alone and women working closely with their partners, in hospitals, homebirths and in water.
I often spend pre natal sessions working with partners/husbands also, in order to help facilitate their abilities to be of most support to you in your labour.
Initially, we will have the opportunity to meet up or chat on the phone informally, to establish whether we feel we could work together.
Once this is established, I offer my full and committed support; I am available via e-mail and both landline and mobile phones.
There are usually two prenatal appointments, roughly two hours long each. I remain on call for you from two weeks before until two weeks after your due date, and attend your birth throughout, staying afterwards until you are ready for me to go; usually a couple of hours later.
I also offer individual pre natal sessions should you not require birth attendance. Please contact me for further details.
At the Birth, I offer the use of acupressure points as a natural alternative to pain relief, exhaustion and nausea, plus homeopathic remedies specifically for childbirth, to alleviate many other common 'complaints'. I teach Active Birth positions to encourage easier descent of baby and help prevent tearing, act as an advocate and protector of your wishes, and help also with the little practical things, like remembering to light candles and put your music on, should you request it!
The cost of this service is £500, and in some cases travel expenses may apply. This fee can be paid by installments should that be preferable, or where there is need, a concessionary rate is available. I will come to your home for appointments and your labour, travelling on to the hospital with you, should that be your chosen birth venue.
I will travel up to an hour from home to your area.
